ABOUT THE AUTHOR :
Dr. M. Swaminathan, D.Sc., F.N.A., a specialist in Food and Nutrition with over 40 years of Research and Teaching experience. His several books on Food and Nutrition are widely used by students and teachers.
Dr. M. Swaminathan was Chairman, Discipline of Applied Nutrition and Dietetics, CFTRI, Mysore. He was actively engaged in Nutrition Research since 1935. He worked with Dr. W.R Aykroyd in the Nutrition Research Laboratories from 1935 to 1942. He worked as Reader in Biochemistry in the Medical College, Jaipur, from 1947 to 1949. He developed original chemical methods for the determination of niacin in 1938 and pyridoxine in 1940. He has published 300 research papers and several review articles. He was elected a Fellow of National Academy of Sciences of India in 1960. He was also a member of the FAO / WHO Expert Group in 1961 on calcium requirements. He was elected as an Honorary Member of the American Institute of Nutrition in 1969 in recognition of his contributions to Nutrition.
