About the Author:

Madhukar Kumar Bhagat is an officer of the 1995 batch of the Indian Revenue Service (I.R.S.) in the rank of Commissioner of Income-tax. He is also the author of several popular books brought out by McGraw Hill Education, which are: (a) Civil Services Interview: How to Excel (b) CSAT: How to Excel (c) Prelims, Mains & Interview What...? When...? How...? (d) General Studies: Paper II He started his career as a mechanical engineer in the Indian Railways after qualifying the S.C.R.A. examination conducted by the U.P.S.C. Later he joined the Indian Revenue Service after successfully clearing the Civil Services examination. In the personality test conducted by the U.P.S.C, he scored 246 out of 300 (82%) marks. He was awarded the Finance Minister’s Gold Medal for the best probationary officer in the 50th batch of the I.R.S. He also has a degree in law and master’s degree in economics and has authored books pertaining to taxation which have been published by the Income-tax Department.
